Q: What are your trusses constructed of?
A: Tailor-Made Structures, LLC only uses pre-engineered all wood trusses that meet and exceed Florida Building Codes. These trusses are the same ones used to build homes. We do not use flimsy metal trusses.
Q: What areas of town do you service?
A: We are a licensed contractor for the entire state of FL. However, we service a 40-mile radius around Zephryhills.
Q: Do you remodel/repair existing barns or do additions to existing barns?
A: Unfortunately, we do not have the crews to dedicate to these services. We specialize in new construction.
Q: Do you sell barn kits?
A: Our barns are constructed on site from the ground up. We do not use or sell any barn kits. Take a look at our videos here to see how our barns are constructed.
Q: Do you require payment in full? Do you offer financing?
A: We only require the payment for plans to get your project started. From there, a scheduled payment plan will take effect during the build. For outdoor structure financing options, please reach out to Donald Fasulo with Shoreham Bank at: dfasulo@shoreham.bank
Q: What is the Process for obtaining a quote?
A: Fill out our “Request a Quote” form on our website in detail. Our GC will call and speak with you about your project and will email a quote that includes an itemized break-down of the costs and fees for your project. Due to the volume of requests for a quote, please allow 1 business week to receive your quote.
Q: Do I need a set of plans?
A: If you are required to go through the permitting process, you will be required to have engineered sealed plans submitted to the county with your permit. Tailor-Made Structures, LLC can provide those plans through our Licensed Structural Engineer who is on The Florida Board of Professional Engineers. Under certain circumstances, Tailor-Made Structures, LLC may still require engineered non-sealed plans for projects that are customized even if you are agriculturally exempt.
Q: Do I need a Permit?
A: Every county is different, but the general rule of thumb is that unless you are agriculturally exempt and have a minimum of 10 acres, you will need a permit. You can confirm whether or not you will need a permit by calling the permitting office in the county where the structure will be built.
Q: Who submits the permit to the county?
A: Tailor-Made Structures, LLC will file all the necessary permitting paperwork to the county as the contractor for your project. Sometimes this is done online or in person. We take care of the Notice of Commencement and Recording, Permitting and Health Department applications.
Q: How much are permitting fees?
A: Permitting fees vary from county to county and depend on the scope of your project/structure; they are not included in our pricing. You can obtain a quote by calling the permitting office in the county where the structure will be built.
Q: Who pays the permitting fees?
A. The home owner is responsible for paying all permitting, impact, zoning, health or any other fees associated to the county or state.
Q: How long will it take to receive my permit?
A: Again, it varies by county but can take up to 8-12+ weeks. You can find out what the approximate turnaround time is by calling the county the structure will be built in.
